His many works on folklore published throughout a career entirely devoted to teaching and research have made him a specialist recognized both in Canada and abroad. Founding director of the Centre franco-ontarien sur le folklore, over the past 35 years he has built up a body of oral documentation of inestimable value to future researchers.
