Steve Podborski took to skiing at the age of three. At sixteen he joined the National Team and so far has won seven World Cup races. In 1981-82 he became the first North American to win the World Cup downhill Skiing Trophy and in 1980 won the Bronze Medal in the Lake Placid Olympic Games. By his modesty, good humour and linguistic ability he has also earned the title of special ambassador of Canada on and off the slopes.
