Known for launching feminist cinema in Quebec, Anne Claire Poirier has been a leading light in Canadian cinematography. Director, writer and producer, she has spent more than 35 years at the National Film Board (NFB), where she has promoted cinema by and for women. This great filmmaker has more than 30 films and documentaries to her credit, including A Scream from Silence (Mourir à tue-tête), Tu as crié LET ME GO and Mother-To-Be (De mère en fille), the first feature film made in Quebec by a woman. Through her socially minded works, which have earned her international awards, this involved, audacious and sensitive woman has helped broaden public debate and change people's attitudes.
