Brigadier-General Stanton was deployed to Iraq from February to July 2019, as director of the Ministerial Liaison Team, and leader of the Directorate of Influence and Information. An integral and entrusted member of the commanding general’s core leadership team, he cultivated an unparalleled network throughout the Government of Iraq’s security ministries, initiating dynamic changes within a multifaceted operational environment. The successes achieved throughout Brigadier-General Stanton’s tenure strengthened the partnership with key allies and advanced Government of Canada objectives in the Middle East.
