In 1989, Vickie Cammack, Joan Lawrence, Jack Collins and Al Etmanski founded Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network (PLAN) in Vancouver, British Columbia. The organization works with families of persons with disabilities to help them plan for their financial and social well-being after the death of their parents and relatives. With the help of facilitators, challenged individuals develop a network of committed friends and supporters whom they can rely upon to maintain their quality of life after their caregivers are gone. With affiliate groups across Canada, the United States, Australia and Scotland, PLAN continues to expand, providing advice and assistance to families, individuals and professionals.
