    Mr. Porter preceded his 1993 World Sculling Championship title with a Gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games and Silver medals at the 1990 and 1991 World Championships. His achievements in both the sweeping and sculling forms of rowing have demonstrated an uncommon ability to reach the highest levels of performance in a short time. He continues to distinguish himself within his sport and to bring honour to Canada.
