Dr. MacLean's work as a payload specialist on the Columbia space shuttle mission of 1992 enhanced Canada's global reputation in space science and technology. He has made significant contributions to the fields of space robotics and automation and helped establish Canada as a leader in the area of machine vision. A positive role model for youth, he is an able communicator who offers us a better appreciation of the wonders of science.
