Warrant Officer Trenholm, then Sergeant, set a standard of duty, courage and resolve during operations in the Medak Pocket, Croatia, in September 1993. On September 2, when his platoon came under fire from inebriated Serbian soldiers, he defused the situation with minimal force. On several occasions during the next two weeks, after a Croatian attack, he led by example during patrols and redeployment, gaining respect from all those with whom he served.
