Medal of Bravery
On July 25, 2010, Jacques Marcoux rescued Damien Simard and his son from a possible drowning, in Métabetchouan-Lac-à-la-Croix, Quebec. Sensing danger, Mr. Simard swam out to reach his son who was caught in the strong current. He fought against the flow to try and bring the boy back to shore but was quickly exhausted. To his great relief, Mr. Marcoux swam out to them, grabbed the boy with one arm and towed Mr. Simard with the other. Struggling against the choppy waves, Mr. Marcoux successfully pulled them to safety.
