On June 13, 1994, at Lansdowne House, Ontario, Mr. Moonias disarmed and subdued an unstable individual who shot a police constable. After hearing the shot, Mr. Moonias rushed to the scene to find the severely wounded constable lying on the ground. As the assailant turned the shotgun on him and tried to fire, Mr. Moonias, without hesitation, leapt at the gunman, knocking the weapon aside as it discharged. He threw the attacker to the ground and subdued him, placing the constable's handcuffs on him. Mr. Moonias then tended to the wounded officer until help arrived.
