Medal of Bravery
Near midnight on February 24, 1988, mill-workers, Surinder Roycombough and John Gordon Stevens, rescued the victim of a serious accident involving three automobiles which occurred outside Prince Rupert, British Columbia. The vehicles immediately burst into flames and seconds later Mr. Roycombough and Mr. Stevens came upon the blaze. Noticing that the occupant of one of the cars was moving, Mr. Stevens disregarded the intensifying heat, pried the door open and began pulling the survivor out. Mr. Roycombough also approached the burning wreckage, untangled the victim's legs from the seat belt and assisted in removing him to safety before the vehicles exploded moments later.
