On the evening of October 14, 1989, Joe Morin helped save three people from a vehicle fire on the streets of Edmonton, Alberta. While driving by, Mr. Morin and a friend noticed that the back of a truck was on fire and, as they approached on foot, they saw someone in the smoke-filled cab. With the help of his friend, Mr. Morin grabbed the man and pulled him to safety. The man told them of his son left in the truck, so Mr. Morin and friend returned to extricate the son who revealed that his friend was also in the truck. At this time the flames had reached under the cab, but Mr. Morin went back a third time and was able to pull the friend from the flaming vehicle.
