In Vancouver, British Columbia, on March 13, 1992, Mr. McLeod prevented a knife-wielding assailant from harming a female co-worker. Hearing her screams, Mr. McLeod ran to her office to find a man pinning her against the wall and threatening her with a kitchen knife. Mr. McLeod diverted the aggressor's attention and placed himself between the two, enabling the victim to leave. He stayed with the agitated assailant, using only a chair for protection, and tried to calm him while another co-worker convinced him to surrender his weapon.
