On October 16, 1993, fourteen-year-old Nicole Morin rescued two children she was babysitting from a house fire on Peter Ballantyne Reserve in Saskatchewan. Seeing smoke coming from one of the bedrooms, Miss Morin ran and snatched a little girl from the room and took her outside. She then re-entered the house and ran past the fire to another bedroom to find the second child. Despite the heavy smoke and increasing intensity of the flames, Miss Morin carried the little girl out of the burning house to safety.
