Symbolism

The blue, red and yellow background is common to several badges of service battalions in the Canadian Armed Forces. The wavy stripes represent the three main waterways of the Montérégie region of Quebec, where the battalion is located. By their number, the stripes also recall the three former military units that gave rise to its creation. A hybrid animal, the Eastern coyote—or coywolf—indicates that the battalion brings together several trades. Swift and capable of covering very long distances, the coywolf also symbolizes the battalion’s mobility across its wide territory. Combining the cunning of the coyote with the strength of the wolf, it embodies the battalion’s skill in providing essential support services to its brigade.

Motto

DEVOIR AVANT TOUT;

Symbolism

This French phrase meaning “Duty above all” is common to several service battalions and has long been used by this unit.
