Badge of the Canadian Armed Forces Cyber CommandBlazonQuarterly Vert and Sable a chess knight Argent surmounted by a lightning bolt bendwise sinister Or its centre composed of two annulets interlaced Sable, all within the Badge Frame for Commands of the Canadian Armed Forces; SymbolismGreen is often used in emblems of military units specializing in signals intelligence and cyber security. Black is the colour of the raven, a symbol of electronic warfare due to its cleverness. The grid division of the background evokes both a chess board—and, by extension, war strategies—as well as radar scanning. The chess knight embodies cyber operations, indicating that they can be used for defensive and offensive moves alike. The lightning bolt (a vector of energy) and the goniometer (a measuring instrument, represented here by the two rings) symbolize signals intelligence. The whole design illustrates the scope of the Command’s activities in the cyber domain. |
