Gold symbolizes the idea of excellence, a value that is dear to Mr. Chivers. The brickwork pattern alludes to his grandfather’s trade as a mason, as well as the family’s commitment to community building in the Edmonton region over more than a century. The concentric circles represent the expansion of Mr. Chivers’ family in North America after his ancestors immigrated from Scotland and England. On a personal level, they evoke the ripple effect Mr. Chivers’ work and volunteerism has had on his broader community. Together with the diagonal stripe running through each ring, they embody a sense of interconnectedness as well as the many paths that one can take in life. |
