Blazon

Per fess, in chief Azure and in base bendy Azure and Or, a fess wavy per fess wavy Argent and Vert between in chief a stag’s head caboshed flanked by two antique crowns Or and in base a heart Gules surmounting two Passion nails in saltire Sable, all within a bordure Gules charged with four antique crowns Or alternating with four mullets Argent;

Symbolism

The design is adapted from the arms of the chief of the Scottish Clan MacLennan. The border, with its stars and crowns, is a Scottish method of differencing.

A demi-man in armour wearing a morion proper holding in his dexter hand a pikestaff Azure flying therefrom a flag per fess Azure and Or and in his sinister hand a Passion nail fesswise Sable;

Symbolism

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The man in armour holding a flag might allude to Clan MacLennan’s role as standard bearers to the chief of Clan Mackenzie and to the fact that the MacLennan soldiers were all killed after they refused to retreat during the Battle of Auldearn in Scotland in 1645.
