Blazon

Azure a bar enhanced Or between in chief a Maltese cross Argent flanked by two mullets of six points and in base a hippogriff segreant Or;

Symbolism

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. These arms are based on those of the Amato family of Amantea and Naples in Italy. The Maltese cross represents Mr. Amato’s membership in the Order of Malta.

The maple leaf represents Mr. Amato’s Canadian nationality. The hippogriff repeats the symbolism of the Arms.

These Latin words mean “Courage and justice.”
