Symbolism

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The blue and white wavy bands represent the waters of Thunder Bay on Lake Superior, and the green, the forested area of the region where the school board is located. The cross indicates that this is a Catholic school board. The scallop is a symbol of pilgrimage.
