Arms of Helen Jane KennedyBlazonPer chevron Ermine and barry wavy Azure and Argent, a chevron Gules, in chief two helmets respectant proper; SymbolismThe ermine recalls that of the arms of the Anglican Diocese of Qu’Appelle in Saskatchewan, of which Helen Kennedy is the bishop. It is also found in the arms of the Diocese of Rupert’s Land, in Manitoba, where she exercised her ordained ministry prior to her election as bishop. The two helmets honour the military members on both sides of Bishop Kennedy’s family. They also allude to the helmets found in coats of arms of Irish Kennedys, her husband’s family. The chevron division, wavy stripes and red colour refer to the arms of the town of Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England, which provided Bishop Kennedy with foundational experiences in her life. |
