Blazon

Azure a bar gemel enarched above a sling Or its stone Argent, on a chief enarched Or an orca Azure embellished Argent;

Symbolism

Gold and blue are found in the emblems of Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, Ryerson Polytechnical University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) and Queen’s University at Kingston, the three institutions where Mr. Kosiner studied. The orca is a nod to his father, who has always been fascinated by this sea dweller. As a skilled and creative hunter with a sophisticated language and long-range call abilities, the orca symbolizes strength, innovation, daring and communication. It thus alludes to Mr. Kosiner’s career as an innovative entrepreneur in broadcasting. The curved lines represent radio waves and his work in radio broadcasting. The sling refers to David’s fight against Goliath, which expresses how Mr. Kosiner often feels as he undertakes his ventures.

Crest

Blazon

An oak tree Azure fructed and pendent therefrom two skates addorsed Or their blades Argent, all issuant from a grassy mount Azure;

The oak references the emblem of the former Village of Forest Hill and, depicted on a hill, it echoes the name of this Toronto neighbourhood where Mr. Kosiner grew up and to which he is strongly attached. The skates represent the sports equipment distributed to less fortunate children through the nation-wide “Skate to Great” drive cofounded and chaired by Mr. Kosiner. Suspended on either side of the tree, they convey the image of a balance and his dream of justice for all.
