The central figure, a cross between a maple leaf and a fleur-de-lis, demonstrates Mr. Richer’s attachment to his country, Canada, and at the same time to the province of his birth, Quebec. This figure is composed of an arrangement of spearheads, the foremost part of the weapon. As apexes, the spearheads represent the leadership role Mr. Richer has played in several organizations. The colours indicate his main character traits and aspirations, purple symbolizing for him dignity and strength, and white, freedom and humility. The use of alternating colours represents the values of harmony and reciprocity.
