Azure on a saltire Argent surmounted by a bezant charged with two hockey sticks in saltire Sable, four eighth notes Sable;

Symbolism

The white saltire on blue evokes the Scottish flag and thus the Scottish heritage of Her Honour. The eighth notes symbolize Her Honour’s love of music and involvement in the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. The gold disc represents a gold coin and thus alludes to Her Honour’s business career. The hockey sticks symbolize her involvement with women’s hockey.

Symbolism

The roses evoke Her Honour’s English ancestry. The open doors symbolize Premier Rachel Notley’s statement during Her Honour’s installation ceremony in 2015: “She has opened doors for people who might otherwise have found them shut”.

The mares represent Her Honour’s programme of breeding standard-bred racehorses. The football alludes to involvement in that sport through her husband Doug Mitchell, O.C., a former Commissioner of the Canadian Football League.The grassy mound alludes to the farm that she once owned. The waves allude to Her Honour’s enjoyment of the ocean by her home in Vancouver.
