Governor General Mary Simon welcomed the following four new heads of mission to Canada during a ceremony at Rideau Hall:

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand
Her Excellency Nandy Somé / Diallo
Ambassador of Burkina Faso
His Excellency Bernardo Fernandes Homem De Lucena
Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic
His Excellency Lim Ki-Mo
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea
If nature can renew itself each year, then diplomacy can also bring new possibilities.
Upon their arrival in Canada, new heads of mission must present their letters of credence to the governor general before they can carry out their duties. Letters of credence are the official documents that accredit a diplomat as an ambassador of or high commissioner for another country.
