Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, joined the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, at a special event hosted by the Rideau Hall Foundation to announce a new legacy initiative.
Mental health has been a key priority for Her Excellency since the beginning of her mandate. A commitment first outlined in her installation speech, it has evolved into a legacy.
Ajuinnata: the Mary Simon Catalyst for Mental Wellness program was launched today. Grounded in the stories and voices shared by those with lived experiences during the Learning and Listening Tour, the program will support community-based, peer-led mental health care in northern communities.
The initiative is guided by a simple truth: healing is best led by community.
