Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Whit Fraser undertook a visit to Toronto on May 14, 2022.
During the visit, Her Excellency presented the new guidon to the Queen’s York Rangers. That evening, Her Excellency honoured renowned Inuit singer and humanitarian Susan Aglukark at the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences’ (CARAS) 2022 JUNO Opening Night Awards, presented by Ontario Creates.

The guidon is a consecrated flag carried by a military unit as a rallying point in battle, and a unit’s most honoured possession.

The new guidon of the Queen’s York Rangers incorporates some of the many battle honours awarded to the regiment, including five new honours: Queenston, Niagara, Detroit, Defence of Canada 1812-1815, and Afghanistan.
