Today, during a ceremony at Rideau Hall, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary May Simon, Governor General of Canada, presented honours to 14 exceptional Canadians.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary May Simon, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, attended a ceremony to pay respect to Indigenous and non-Indigenous veterans and to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the National Aboriginal Veterans Monument.

We confer three types of honours today.

Throughout history, Indigenous veterans have bravely served on land, sea and in the air, alongside allies, believing they could make a difference.
