Letters of Credence Ceremony

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Louise Arbour, Governor General of Canada, received the credentials of four new heads of mission during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

The following heads of mission presented their credentials to the Governor General to officially begin their diplomatic missions:

His Excellency Talal Mansour Alhajeri
Ambassador of the State of Kuwait

Her Excellency Carmen Lucila Crexell
Ambassador of the Argentine Republic

His Excellency Dahir Hassan Abdi
Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia

Her Excellency Agniola Anne Sophie Ahouanmenou
Ambassador of the Republic of Benin

Upon their arrival in Canada, new heads of mission must present their letters of credence to the governor general before they can carry out their duties. Letters of credence are the official documents that accredit a diplomat as an ambassador of or high commissioner for another country.
