Her Excellency the Right Honourable Louise Arbour, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, took part in a ceremony hosted by Aboriginal Veterans Autochtones (AVA) to mark the 25th anniversary of the unveiling of the National Aboriginal Veterans Monument in Ottawa, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, 2026.
The Governor General delivered short remarks during the event.
Beyond their courage and dedication, Indigenous people bring invaluable knowledge and skills to the Canadian Armed Forces.
