Opening of the Qikiqtait exhibition and celebration for Polar Knowledge at the Canadian Museum of Nature

Governor General Mary Simon had the honour of delivering remarks at the “Qikiqtait: Where Inuit Knowledge and Innovation Come Together" premiere reception.

Soon to be on view at the Canadian Museum of Nature, this first-of-its-kind exhibition celebrates decades of Inuit-led research, education and environmental stewardship by the Sanikiluarmiut (Inuit from Sanikiluaq) on the Belcher Islands (Qikiqtait) and in Arctic communities.

“Qikiqtait” is a collaboration between the Arctic Eider Society and Polar Knowledge Canada, which is celebrating 10 years of advancing Canada’s knowledge of the Arctic.
