Mrs. Johnston visited the KW Counselling Services Centre to learn about OK2BME, the Gay Straight Alliance Network, and The New Mentality, three community programs that offer support to LGBTQ + youth.

During an on-stage conversation hosted by Feridun Hamdullahpur, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waterloo, the Governor General and Mr. Jenkins spoke about their book, Ingenious.

The Governor General and Mr. Jenkins took the time to answer questions from the audience.

Later that day, the Governor General and Mr. Jenkins visited Communitech to discuss their new book Ingenious during an on-stage conversation hosted by Iain Klugman, President and CEO of Communitech.

The program fosters personal growth and improvement through the use of horses as a medium for development and therapy, with the assistance of volunteers.

In the riding class, students collected flowers and offered them to Mrs. Johnston. Pride Stables provides a safe, high-quality riding program for persons with disabilities.

Mrs. Johnston attended the kindergarten riding class where she met with participants, parents, teachers and volunteers.

In the afternoon, Mrs. Johnston visited Pride Stables to learn about the Central Ontario Developmental Riding Program.

The conversation was followed by a book-signing session.

The co-authors have worked hard to make sure this collection illustrates the range and depth of innovations that Canadians have given to the world.

Ingenious is a book about hundreds of Canadian innovations that have made the world a smarter, smaller, kinder, safer, healthier, wealthier and happier place.

Mrs. Johnston heard from participants, staff members and volunteers about the positive impact these programs have had on the community.
