Universities Canada Convergence Conference

Converge 2017 was a dialogue hosted by Universities Canada. The MCs for the event were Shelagh Rogers and Myriam Fehmiu.

Right before His Excellency's speech, young leaders taking part to the event spoke about what their participation to the conference brought them.

The event brought together future innovators, creators, entrepreneurs and community leaders from Canada’s universities, as well as thought leaders from across the country to explore what Canada can become over the next 50 years.

"As participants in this conference, you’re among the leading lights of your generation. You come from right across the country. You’re ambassadors for your communities and schools, and I want you to go to the next level," said the Governor General. "I want you to be ambassadors for this Canadian experiment: for reconciliation, for tolerance, for inclusiveness, for openness, for collaboration, for the possibility of Canada."

His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, delivered the closing address at Converge 2017 on February 7 at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa.

Mr. Paul Davidson, President of Universities Canada, thanked Governor General Johnston for his speech. Universities Canada is a membership organization providing university presidents with a unified voice for higher education, research and innovation. It advances the mission of its 97 member institutions to transform lives, strengthen communities and find solutions to the most pressing challenges facing our world.
