Official Visit to New Brunswick

Upon arrival in Fredericton, the Governor General met with Their Honours the Honourable Jocelyne Roy Vienneau, Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, and Mr. Ronald Vienneau.

In the evening, Her Excellency delivered remarks at a reception in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Canadian confederation.

Her Excellency also stopped at the Gagetown Military Family Resource Centre.

Her Excellency flew over the base in a helicopter.

On the base, Her Excellency visited the 403 Helicopter Operational Training Squadron and boarded a helicopter.

The Governor General visited 5th Canadian Division Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown where she met with and extended her support to the troops and their families.

After the tour, Her Excellency engaged in a discussion on research and collaboration with various stakeholders.

In the afternoon, the Governor General toured the Institute of Biomedical Engineering’s innovative prosthetics labs at the University of New Brunswick.

Later, Her Excellency addressed the members of the Legislative Assembly.

While Her Excellency reviewed the guard of honour, she stopped to thank members of the Canadian Armed Forces for their service.

During the ceremony the Governor General received military honours, including a 100-person guard of honour, the Vice Regal Salute and a 21-gun salute from The 2nd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, and The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery School.

The Governor General was officially welcomed to New Brunswick with a ceremony.

Her Excellency spoke to guests during the reception.
