Official Opening of the Global Centre for Pluralism

His Highness the Aga Khan and His Excellency took a few minutes to speak privately.

Upon his arrival at the new International Headquarters for the Global Centre for Pluralism, His Excellency toured the building with His Highness the Aga Khan.

The Governor General signed the Centre's official guestbook.

Founded in Ottawa by His Highness the Aga Khan in partnership with the Government of Canada, the Global Centre for Pluralism is an independent, charitable organization. Inspired by Canada’s experience as a diverse and inclusive country, the Centre was created to advance positive responses to the challenge of living peacefully and productively together in diverse societies.

His Highness the Aga Khan greeted guests.

"Canadian society is at its best when it mirrors its geography: broad, expansive, diverse," said the Governor General. "Canada is a constantly evolving experiment in inclusiveness and making pluralism work. This is what positions us to tell the pluralism story not just here in Canada, but around the world. And that is why your work at the Global Centre for Pluralism is so essential both for the Canadian experiment and for the capacity of people everywhere to live with difference—to live pluralism."

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, also delivered an address.
