The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award of Achievement

The Governor General presented The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award to more than 60 young people from across Canada.

The ceremony begun with an orchestral piece played by Lower Canada College.

"I’m always inspired to learn about the achievements and dreams of Duke of Edinburgh Award recipients," said the Governor General. "It also reminds me that a smarter, more caring nation is a goal, not a given. It’s a goal that is achieved through hard work. All of you here today have a desire to change things for the better. Already you are making an impact."

The Duke of Edinburgh International Award’s three levels—Bronze, Silver and Gold— encourage youth between the ages of 14 and 24 to pursue activities in four areas: community service, physical recreation, skills development and outdoor exploration. Gold-level participants also complete a residential project.
