Address to Global Young Academy Members
The GYA is the voice of young scientists around the world, fostering an international community that works together on topics of global importance. Founded in 2010, it has 200 members from 58 countries, which are selected for the excellence of their science and their commitment to service.

On May 26, 2015, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, addressed young scientists from all over the world from the Global Young Academy (GYA) during their general annual meeting. Upon his arrival at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), His Excellency met with (first row, left) Mr. John R. McDougall, NRC President, (second row, from left to right) Ms. Heidi Wedel, Managing Director of GYA, Mr. Sameh Soror, GYA Egypt Co-Chair, and Ms. Eva Alistic, GYA Australia Co-Chair.

"Scientists and innovators are leading a transformative revolution. You’re changing our world by asking questions. And your answers, and how you arrive at solutions, has the potential to bring the world closer together. Sustainable globalization begins with the search for answers and knowing that we are responsible for finding them together. I wish all of you the very best as you continue your important dialogue.
