The Lung Association’s 2014 Christmas Seal Campaign

For more than 100 years, Canadians have been supporting the work of The Lung Association through donations to the Christmas Seal Campaign. Initially funds were raised to help combat tuberculosis.

During a special presentation, the Governor General was presented with this year’s Christmas Seal by 14-year-old Xavier Beaucaire and nine-year-old Natalie Dubé. Xavier and Natalie are among the three million Canadians living with asthma, a chronic lung disease that makes it difficult to breathe. Mr. Dean Karakasis (right), Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Lung Association also took part in the presentation.

Today, the Campaign helps The Lung Association fight new battles against lung cancer, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), smoking, and air pollution. The presentation of the first 2014 Christmas Seal took place at Rideau Hall.
