Official Visit to Newfoundland and Labrador - Day 4
Upon their arrival in Change Islands, Their Excellencies met with His Worship Stephen Brinson, Mayor of the town, and councillors for an overview of the history of the island. Their first stop was at the Interpretation Centre.

They also visited the harbour-wharf with His Worship Gordon Noseworthy, Mayor of Twillingate (left), to learn about the evolution of fisheries in the region.

Their Excellencies then headed to the Long Point Lighthouse, which was built more than 300 feet above the Atlantic Ocean sea level and is operated by the Canadian Coast Guard.

Their Excellencies met with veterans who attended this special ceremony.

Their Excellencies ended their official visit to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Twillingate, the iceberg capital of the world. At the official welcoming ceremony, His Excellency spoke to a young cadet during the inspection of the guard.

They also conducted a walkabout to visit a variety of local sites, such as the Old Shoppe Museum, which contains a collection of artifacts related to Newfoundland and Labrador’s history.
