Official Visit to British Columbia - Day 3

Following the Governor General's address before the Canadian Club of Vancouver, Their Excellencies met with a group of volunteers from the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby.

Their Excellencies met with His Worship Gregor Robertson, Mayor of Vancouver, and his wife, Mrs. Amy Robertson.

During the visit to Vancouver City Hall, Their Excellencies met with city officials to learn about the city's innovative programs promoting cultural integration and anti-racism leadership in youth. Their Excellencies also learned about Vancouver's initiatives as one of Canada's greenest cities.

His Excellency delivered a keynote address before the Canadian Club of Vancouver at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby.

As keynote speaker before the Canadian Club of Vancouver, His Excellency continued the long tradition of governors general speaking at Canadian Clubs.

His Excellency delivered a keynote address before the Canadian Club of Vancouver on the importance of volunteerism and philanthropy in Canada and offered these final words: "And now I challenge you—as we approach a new year, as we celebrate a number of milestone events in 2012, and as we carry on towards our sesquicentennial in 2017—to see how we can be more caring, how we can be smarter about it, and how we can create a better Canada."

During Their Excellencies visit to the Canadian Club of Vancouver, guests were treated to a musical performance by Mohamed Assanni, sitar player.
