2011 Royal Tour - Celebration of Youth Reception

In honour of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston, along with the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, and his wife Mrs. Laureen Harper, hosted a reception celebrating the service of Canadian Youth towards a smart and caring nation. The event was held inside the Tent Room at Rideau Hall on June 30, 2011.

This event brought together over 120 Canadian youth selected for their work in areas of great interest to Their Royal Highnesses: support for service personnel and their families; conservation for future generations; children fulfilling their potential; changing lives through art and sport; and help and care at home.

Her Royal Highness had the opportunity to meet with and learn from these dedicated youth who are committed to community service and who strive to build a better nation.

This event also allowed these young Canadians to meet a member of the Royal family who has already identified “service to others” as a pivotal focus.

In addition, 22 young culinary professionals and students from across the country were mentored by Rideau Hall chefs as they assisted our culinary team with preparations and service for this evening.
