During their regional visit to Newfoundland and Labrador, Their Excellencies and Marie-Éden stayed on the Canadian coast guard icebreaker Georges R. Pearkes.

Their Excellencies and Marie-Éden visited the Red Bay National Historic Site recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. The sheltered harbour of Red Bay was the busiest port of a thriving industry based on the production of whale oil developed along the Labrador coast during the mid- to late 1500s.

Their Excellencies also discovered Saddle Island thanks to Mr. Phillip Bridle, a guide from Parks Canada.
