As part of her visit to Montréal on May 15, 2010, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, also met with members of the Fusiliers Mont-Royal. The regiment celebrates it's centennial anniversary this year.

In honour of the regiment's centennial anniversary,the Governor General delivered a speech: "As a Francophone, I am proud of the vital role that the 65th Regiment, one of the oldest Francophone battalions in the country and the oldest in Montreal, has played and continues to play within the Canadian Forces, at home and abroad."

Her Excellency unveiled a commemorative plaque in honour of the centennial of the armoury, which from now on will be named the Manège militaire des Fusiliers Mont-Royal.
