2010 Canadian Health Research Awards

The Governor General addressed and congratulated this year’s recipients of these prestigious awards who have contributed to making Canada a healthier and more innovative nation.

His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, attended the 2010 Canadian Health Research Awards—A Celebration of Excellence in Canadian Health Research. The ceremony took place at the National Gallery of Canada. Upon his arrival, the Governor General was greeted by the President of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Dr. Beaudet (left) and the President of the Prix Galien Canada Jury Dr. Gagné (right).

His Excellency and Dr. Gagné with representatives from Janssen-Ortho Inc., laureates of the Prix Galien for Innovative Product. The Prix Galien Canada Awards are the most prestigious in the field of Canadian pharmaceutical research and innovation. Referred to as the Nobel Prize of pharmaceutical research, it recognizes the efforts and achievements of pharmaceutical research and development.

Canada’s Health Researcher of the Year and other awards being presented are synonymous with excellent, internationally-recognized, cutting-edge research. The awards are presented by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Prix Galien Canada.
