Reception for Cape Dorset artists

Cape Dorset artists were in Ottawa for the inauguration of an exhibition at the National Gallery that pays tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Inuit Printmaking at Cape Dorset.

The new exhibition is organized by the National Gallery of Canada in collaboration with Dorset Fine Arts. Her Excellency met with Ms. Leslie Boyd Ryan, Director of Dorset Fine Arts.

Mr. David Franklin, Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the National Gallery of Canada said a few words.

Ningeokuluk Teevee is a Canadian Inuk writer and artist. Her first children's book, Alego, is currently a nominee for the 2009 Governor General's Award for children's literature illustration.

The book Cape Dorset Prints: A Retrospective, published in 2007, was presented as a gift to Her Excellency during the reception.
