National Remembrance Day Ceremony

Her Excellency and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales attended the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

This year’s National Silver Cross Mother, Mrs. Della Marie Morley (white coat) attended the ceremony. Her son, the late Corporal Keith Ian Morley, was killed in Afghanistan, on September 18, 2006.

Her Excellency and His Royal Highness both laid a wreath at the foot of the National War Memorial in honour of fallen soldiers.

General Walter Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff along with Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer Greg Lacroix also laid a wreath during the Ceremony.

A children choir sang “Ô Canada” and “In Flanders Fields”, among others, during the ceremony.

Thousands of people gathered in the nation's capital to pay tribute to fallen Canadian soldiers.

The ceremony was held under a beautiful sunny sky.

Dozens of diplomats laid wreaths along the sides of the monument.

The ceremony ended with a March Past in front of Their Excellencies, the Silver Cross Mother and Their Royal Highnesses.
