Luncheon for the Silver Cross Mother

This year’s National Silver Cross Mother is Mrs. Della Marie Morley. Her son, the late Corporal Keith Ian Morley, was killed in Afghanistan on September 18, 2006.

The National Silver Cross Mother is chosen annually by the Royal Canadian Legion. She represents all Canadian mothers who lost children in the military service of their nation, by attending the National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa.

Each year, Her Excellency hosts a luncheon in the honour of the National Silver Cross Mother.

On the occasion of a luncheon at Rideau Hall in the honour of the National Silver Cross Mother, photos of the year’s fallen soldiers are displayed.

Canada's Chief of Defence Staff General Walter Natynczyk also said a few words during the luncheon.
