Governor General's Visit to the Remix Project in Toronto

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, with staff from the Remix Project. The Governor General toured the facilities of the Remix Project to discover programs offered to participants. She then took part in a discussion about the challenges youth face in Toronto, the ways the arts are being used to tackle those challenges, and how the Remix Project is helping youth achieve their life goals. Remix is one of the largest youth-led urban arts programs in Toronto, using hip-hop culture as a bridge to employment, education and mentorship. This visit is part of the Governor General’s efforts to highlight the ways in which urban artists are combating violence and empowering youth to improve their communities.
