"My husband Jean-Daniel Lafond and I were deeply saddened to hear of the
ambush that took place in the Panjwayi district of Kandahar Province, which
claimed the lives of Sergeant Darcy Scott Tedford and Private Blake Neil Williamson, and injured two members of the Canadian Forces.

The pain and grief of the families, loved ones and friends of these soldiers
is felt throughout the country. Like all of their comrades involved in
operations in Afghanistan, these men have given their very best. They have
made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the Afghan people as they strive to
end a regime of terror and move towards reclaiming their own destiny with
peace and dignity. Let us honour them today as they deserve."
