Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
George Thomson was a dedicated volunteer and fundraiser for Lions Place and Lions Place for Health. In his honour, Lions Place for Health was renamed the George Thomson Health Centre. When not helping the residents of the Centre, he helped organize the Eaton's Retirement Group, served on Community Police Advisory Committees and raised money for area hospitals through the Masons. In addition, he travelled around the city by bus several times a week to visit hospital patients and nursing home residents.
